About the Limited scope firms edition

Firms whose business is limited to certain types, such as some insurance distributors, limited-permission consumer credit firms and funeral plan providers. SYSC 24 (prescribed responsibilities) does not apply to a limited scope firm, and neither do the management responsibilities map, overall responsibility or the handover rules, so this edition covers the SMF register, statements of responsibilities, certification and conduct rules training. It follows the General column of the function table; some limited scope sub-categories have different lists.

Limited scope firms have no prescribed responsibilities to allocate and no management responsibilities map.

The FCA does not set a template for the workbook sheets, and statements of responsibilities sent to the FCA must use its own form. This pack is a practical structure built on SUP 10C and SYSC 23 to 27. See the SM&CR guide, the SM&CR tool and the implementation checklist. This pack is for solo-regulated firms: dual-regulated firms, payment and e-money institutions and firms registered only under the Money Laundering Regulations are out of scope.
